From the begining the NASA series was envisioned as a large thirty piece set of paintings to be displayed in a grid format.

NASA vs. Teotwawki - Number 22, 2010.
Each painting followed a set of rules in it's construction. In content the title was to include the word 'NASA' and the painting to have three figures depicted - two pawns and one more nefarious character, all based in a landscape. There are also various other repeating objects and icons throughout the works - like boats, mountains, leaves etc.
The works are all on canvas 90x70cm in size, and all use a three part colour system plus black and white. Loosely, various versions of Red, Yellow and Blue are mixed- the colours used are noted on the original sketches and on the back of the works. The works are all painted in acrylic, the white used for mixing and the black used for scumbling and outlines.
Each work was based on a small sketch, which in turn was based on a title - the titles came before the drawings. The titles served as a starting point when beginning the preliminary drawing. The paintings were freely based on the drawings, allowing for any subsequent interpretations and extrapolations.
I Dream of NASA - Number 19, 2010
The painting series of thirty works was designed to be hung as a large grid. A grid of ten paintings wide, by three paintings high. A special hanging system was designed to minimise the work of hanging the paintings - an instruction guide was supplied with the travelling show.
Two transport boxes were designed as well to protect the works in transit and minimise weight for easy handling by gallery staff. The transport boxes also included a media pack - a guide, DVD, T-Shirts, instructional sheets and other booklets and mini posters.
Not all the gallerys could fit a large grid on a single wall, so depending on the building shape and size, the gallerys decided on the format. The Sunshine Coast University Gallery was an exception - a design was created on a computer as a walk through 3D model - this being a two by fifteen display with on wall printed iNASA signs. The Gallery did an excellent job with the hanging of that show - it looked great!
It should be mentioned, that the very first time I saw the works hanging together was in fellow artists Loretta Noonan and Hew Che Fong's large studio in Peachester - which was very helpful!
