Photo restoration and image adjustment is something I have been learning for many years, as I have been scanning and photographing my own art work and family collection of old photos and documents. My preference is to photograph the work with a mirrorless digital camera and make all adjustments within Affinity Photo. Using this technique, I can reproduce prints and film negatives of various sizes with a great deal of success. I also own a quality Epson Scanner which I use for slides and negatives.
I can also digitally reproduce slides, photos, negatives and photograph your artwork.
This restoration below was done for a member of the family who had it printed and was very happy with the result. If you need some work done then contact me, as I could have a look at what needs to be restored and come up a with cost, either by supplying a digital copy or producing a printed version.
BEFORE
The old photo that was scanned using a digital camera. The original print was faded, had blemishes, pencil marks, stains and was torn. The old print was slowly fading away to nothing and was badly mounted on old cardboard that was not acid free, so was slowly degrading over time.
AFTER
The restored version with all defects removed, now with improved clarity and contrast. This version was tinted slightly to retain the old world charm of the period. The owner had this image printed to about the original size (about 200x300mm) and was very happy.
