-A Quick look at War -
This short series was based on a reaction to the 2003 Invasion of Iraq, after 911. Consisting of only 3 paintings - "Eggs and Torpedo", "Horse Head Vortex" and "Shock and Awe".
"Eggs and Torpedo" Combines the activities of eating your breakfast while watching the news - "Eggs" and Torpedo" - also harking back to 911 with it's instant footage, in real time of the planes smashing into buildings - viewed in our homes.
"Horse Head Vortex" references Picasso's "Guernica" which is about the horrors of war. This work was influenced by events when Colin Powell spoke in front of the United Nations presenting his case for the war on Iraq - he spoke in front of a covered tapestry reproduction of "Guernica" - Picasso's work continues to speak, even when it's covered.
"Shock and Awe" is about bombers, bombs, targets, nameless people, a snake and general chaos.
